For three days, Killarney Mall becomes one of Joburg’s best places to lose an afternoon among miniature trees. The annual Houghton Bonsai & Succulent Show brings together bonsai, succulents and rare plants, with displays to admire and growers to buy from directly.
There are workshops and demonstrations for adults and kids, so it’s a great first step if you’ve ever wanted to start your own bonsai.
Bonsai is patience made visible: slow, careful, deeply absorbing work, and a natural fit for anyone looking for a calmer kind of flow. Entry is free.
