Artist Gordon Froud’s renewed love of woodworking is the engine behind Assembled. It grew out of his December 2025 residency at NIROX, where a series of wooden electrical pylons sparked a wider two-week workshop in hand skills and sculptural construction.
Froud brought artists, lecturers and UJ sculpture students together with specialists from the Woodworkers’ Guild and Gauteng Woodworking Society to learn carving, joinery, machinery and wood selection. Assembled shows where that process led.
It’s a perfect outing for anyone who loves craft and making, and NIROX’s sculpture park in the Cradle of Humankind makes a beautiful day of it. RSVP via [email protected]
