KAMERS/Makers is where South Africa’s makers come out to play. For five days, hundreds of local designers, artists and small-batch producers fill the open-air grounds of Anton van Wouw Primary School in Nieuw Muckleneuk with fashion, homeware, jewellery, art, design and food.
It’s a market you wander rather than shop. Follow the music, meet the people who made the thing in your hands, and leave with something no mall stocks. For the Creative & Curious crowd, it’s also a good look at what independent making can be when it’s done well.
Kids under 18 get in free and the venue is wheelchair accessible. A multi-day pass is only R40 more than a single day if you want to go back for a second round.
