UJ Artist-in-Residence Henrietta Scholtz takes us back to the ancient ecosystems of the supercontinent Gondwana. At the centre of the show is Glossopteris, a plant that once spread across the supercontinent before vanishing in the end-Permian extinction.
Virtual reality and animated 3D forms share the space with interactive pieces and paintings made from coal, ochre and bio-based inks. Scholtz builds scientific research directly into her materials, using deep time to think about environmental upheaval and how life adapts.
Part of the 2026 Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival, it’s a fascinating mix of art, science and technology, and a must for curious minds.
